Slotuang (Bidayuh)

 

Name: Slotuang

Classification: Idiochord

Description:   The six strings are raised by frets placed at both ends.  Two boards are clipped on two strings underneath of which are holes.  The boards create a vibrating sound when the strings are struck by a stick.  The instrument may be played solo or with another that plays an ostinato.  As many as four instruments may play at the same time.  A pair of bamboo stamping tubes may also accompany playing of the slotuang.
