Castanuelos (Castillian)


Name: castanuelos

Description: A pair of oblong shaped disks are attached to each other with a string. Each hand holds a pair. Using deft finger movements, the disks are made to clap aganst each others. The castanuelos are often played by flamenco dancers. The type of wood used and its craftsmanship determines the quality of the castanuelos with those used by professional dancers often being very expensive.
