Description: Made from a single trunk of wood. The instrument resembles the Western guitar and has four strings. Rooster feathers decorate the top of the neck of the guitar. This particular specimen was called by its maker and owner as gitarang walang pahinga because it is reputed to withstand long hours of playing. A highly-regarded instrument, it is said that the playing of this guitar has cured many a sick patient. The gitara is an example of how indigenous people have adapted a Western music instrument by crafting their own version of it and developing its own music repertoire.
