Damaru (Nepali)

Name: damaru

Description: An hour-glass shaped drum. Rattan straps with knots on both ends strike the drum heads as it is shaken producinga rattling sound. The drum is used in Hindu prayers and ceremonies. In many temples in Nepal, one can see these drums hanging from door beams with worshippers shaking these.
