Dabakan (Maranao)

Name: Dabakan

Classification: Goblet-shaped drum

Description: Carved from a single trunk of wood and covered with goatskin.  There are carved designs on the body of the drum.  The dabakan is played with a pair of sticks and is one of the rhythmic instruments of the kulintang ensemble.

Materials: wood (body), goat skin (membrane)

Ethnolinguistic Group: Maranao

Place: Lanao Del Sur
